Science, Mathematics and Technologies Teaching Graduate Program – PPGECMT
Program Objectives:
- Promote the professional qualification in the field of Science, Mathematics and Technologies through theoretical-conceptual, theoretical-methodological, and practical-pedagogical studies and reflections.
- Allow adequate space for the development of works that seek to diagnose, problematize, and propose didactic-pedagogical strategies and resources to overcome school challenges in the field of Science, Mathematics, and Technologies.
- Contribute to the teacher’s education concerned with their professional development, performing with higher quality in the mediation of teaching and learning processes.
- Enable the conceptual, historical, philosophical and epistemological reflections on scientific knowledge (Science, Mathematics, and Technologies), as well as their relation to daily and school knowledge in the educational context.
- Capacitate Master´s students for the elaboration and use of distinct didactic resources based on innovative pedagogical perspectives.
- Quantify and structure an appropriate space for research, knowledge production, and educational product development in the field of Sciences, Mathematics, and Technologies.
Course:
PROFESSIONAL MASTER´S PROGRAM IN SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, AND TECHNOLOGIES TEACHING (Beginning in 04/24/2015).
Concentration areas and research lines:
SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, AND TECHNOLOGIES (Lines: 1. Teaching-Learning and Teacher Education; 2. Educational Technologies).
Program Differentials (Strengths):
- The Teaching staff of the PPGECMT is constituted by experienced and qualified professionals with diversified formations, consistently fostering technical-scientific production and the formation of human resources in the field of Science, Mathematics, and Technologies.
- The researchers conducted in the PPGECMT aim at the professional qualification in the field of Science, Mathematics, and Technologies through theoretical-conceptual, theoretical-methodological, and practical-pedagogical studies and reflections, significantly contributing for narrowing the theory-practice.
- The Professional Master´s Program of the PPGECMT provides and enhances the importance of the necessary and continuous professional improvement of teachers in service and recently graduated, fostering the production of knowledge and the performance of critical reflections on pedagogical practice.
- The curricular structure and formation demands for research and development of educational products inherent in the Professional Master´s Program of the PPGECMT are aligned with the principles of the Teaching Field. It provides a bridge between the knowledge generated in the area and its application in education situations in various fields (Basic, Professional, Technological, Higher, and non-formal Education).
- The Professional Master´s Program of the PPGECMT has a significant demand and contributes with the professional qualification of teachers derived from distinct regions, extrapolating the northern region of the state of Santa Catarina.
Minimum formation and other requirements for ingress:
Registrations for the Professional Master´s Program in Science, Mathematics, and Technologies Teaching will be accepted from candidates bearing a diploma in a Licentiate degree in Sciences, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. We will also accept registrations from candidates bearing a diploma in correlated areas, proving the performance in teaching (according to article 14 of the PPGECMT Resolution nº 004/2016) in Basic Education, Professionalizing Education, or Higher Education.
