Music Graduate Program

Program Objectives

The MGP has the objective of producing knowledge in the field of music through research and reflection on music and its sociocultural, historical, educational, compositional, and interpretative fundaments, forming professionals qualified to perform in the generation and diffusion of knowledge and to professionally act in education, research, and artistic practice of music and correlated areas.

Specific objectives

• To form human resources capable of supplying the demands of higher education and new professional spaces in the field of music, ensuring the growth of their qualitative level;
• To qualify professors to perform in higher education and in other venues, capable of contributing in different university contexts, developing education, research, and extension activities with high-quality level;
• To give continuity to the studies initiated in the undergraduate music programs of the Udesc, deepening the themes of the many research lines in music developed in the Arts Center, supplying the regional demands;
• To produce and disseminate reflections on the many theoretical and practical approaches in the field of music, uniting the knowledge produced in undergraduate and post-graduate studies in a single coherent and consistent package;
• To form professional capable of promoting the access to music and musical education in different sectors of society.
