The Research Group Music Education and Teacher Training positions itself in an impending place for studies and research, thus it intends to contribute to the progress in a given knowledge area. This comprises the development of investigations in music education with the focus on the teacher’s education and teaching practice, and favoring themes such as pedagogical practices, knowledge and professional development, learning-to-teach processes, practices of school music and international and cross-cultural studies. Various theoretical and methodological approaches are the foundation of, and enriches, this field of study.
Outcomes
Individually and collectively, members of this group have published books, book chapters, articles in national and international scientific journals. In addition, members have participated in local, regional, national and international events in the areas of music, education and music education. The teachers have been orientating students with scholarships for research, undergraduate theses as well as orientating master and doctoral dissertations. The sharing of knowledge and development of questioning unites this group of researchers, undergraduate and graduate students and teachers of basic education.

Teacher Education in Music
Investigate curriculum programs, focusing on teaching practice, in order to understand how the meanings and the training contents are configured.
Keywords: research with undergraduates, ways of learning how to teach, interdisciplinary projects, narrative and identity processes.
Teachers and work contexts
Describe, analyze and reflect on the circumstances of local, national and cultural contexts of music education, in order to learn about other pedagogical-musical practices that may support the multicultural reality in classrooms and the challenges of globalization.
