The Electrical Engineering Graduation at UDESC-Joinville started in 1996 with the beginning of the Master's program in Industrial Automation, through Resolution 046/96 of the University Council (CONSUNI) and was recognized by the State Education Council (CEE) through State Decree 3.011 of 09/19/2001 published on 12/20/2001.
The first adjustment of the program came in 2004 with the creation of the Electrical Engineering Graduation Program (PPGEEL), through CONSUNI Resolution 029/2004. With this adjustment, the program started to be called Master's program in Electrical Engineering, in the research area of Industrial Automation.
In 2008 the Master's program underwent a new reformulation through Resolution 036/2008 of the Teaching, Research and Extension Council (CONSEPE), aiming at its adequacy for a new submission to the federal agency of Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) approval. In this reformulation, the research area became Electro and Electronic Systems, and in June 2009 it received the recommendation from CAPES, starting its activities in August of the same year.
In 2012, the Doctorate program in Electrical Engineering in association with the Electrical Engineering Graduation Program of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) was proposed. In March 2013 the proposal was approved by CAPES and lasted 5 years. Since mid-2018, the agreement with UFSM is no longer in force, and since then, PPGEEL has been following its track. The Doctorate program in Electrical Engineering has the same research area as the Master's program and started its activities in August 2013.
In the most recent evaluation by CAPES (Quadrennial 2013-2016), the Doctorate and Master's programs were recommended.
